2019 Cadillac CT5 – The Perfect Replacement

Cadillac launched the CT6 in 2016 and they plan to replace the third-generation CTS next years, whereas the ATS nameplate is going to become brand new after 2018. CT5 is going to be that replacement with the CT4 expected to arrive sometime in the future and that will be a smaller version of the vehicle. The CT4 is still a mystery, so we will forget about it for a while, while the CT5 has been seen performing some tests.

When it comes to the size, the CT5 will not be different from the CTS, however, you can expect some change when it comes to the design. The new model will be sportier and more modern whereas a new body style will be featured as well. Moreover, you should know that the CT5 will be based on the Escala concept, so some of the details will be kept and modified.

2019 Cadillac CT5 Exterior

The front grille is wide just as it is the case with the concept car, but the mesh is different. Furthermore, the headlamps will be changed as well and you can see thicker units with small LED sports towards the grille and bigger lights at the corners. The hood cannot even be compared to the one on the Escala’s while the test vehicle also comes with a large bulge in the middle. The reason for this bulge is that we are looking at a higher performance model with the V badge, most likely. As for the regular Cadillac CT5, it will not be that aggressive.

The CT5 comes with a coupe-style roof and a short sloping deck lid, but the overall feel is that it retained the fastback look of the Escala. As for the derriere of the vehicle, there is an integrated trunk lid spoiler and the clean rear fascia with a mild V design. The Y-shaped taillights of the concept are used for the production model, but they will not be as radical as they are on the concept car.

Interior

Escala has an awesome interior, but unfortunately, it will not be the case and only a few details from the concept will be adjusted and used. Based on what happens at the market of the luxury cars, we expect from Cadillac to incorporate large displays for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system. The interior will be sporty and the seats comfortable even if you go with the base trim.

The leather is going to be standard on all models, and Alcantara is available for inserts. Only the CT6-V will most likely get full Alcantara seats. Legroom and headroom will not be a problem even for the passengers who sit in the back.

Engine

It remains to be seen which engine Cadillac will use to power this machine. It is expected for the CT5 to borrow its units from the larger CT6, which features one four-cylinder engine, two 6-cylinder engines, and one V8. There is also a hybrid version of the car, so this might be the case with the CT5.

Also, Cadillac will sell a range-topping model which is performance-oriented and it was seen in February, this year. We don’t know the name of this model at the moment, but Cadillac can opt for the CT5-V or the CT5 V-Sport. Either way, it will come with a new 4.2-liter V8 engine which currently powers the CT6 V-Sport and produces 550 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque.

Pricing for Cadillac CT5

Expect the 2019 Cadillac CT5 to be more costly than the current CTS model. The new four-door version of the CTS will be priced at around $48,000 in the base form, which is around $1,500 higher price compared to the current model. As for the performance CTS-V, it is sold for $86,495, which means that the CT5-V will start at approximately $90,000.
