It would seem that Haas is pleased by the performance of Kevin Magnussen and is planning on keeping him in 2019 season. His teammate Romain Grosjean, on the other hand, appears to be facing an uphill struggle in order to remain with the team. Rumors around the paddock have him replaced by Charles Leclerc.
The American team has an option on Magnussen’s contract which expires in September 2019, but all signs point to team prolonging the contract. The announcement could be made as soon as Singapore. The driver has stated earlier that he is expecting the team to make the announcement “soon”, meaning that he was already informed of the decision.
“I have been in contact with the team in recent weeks and I think we can announce something soon,” he said at Spa.
“It was a challenge with a team in the second year when he came. It was an opportunity as well, and he took the opportunity,” said team boss Guenther Steiner.
