The wait will be over soon. After eight years of absence, the Alfa Romeo 8C is returning to the market and it is not going to look like its predecessor. Alfa Romeo plans to make the new 8C as the 700-hp supercar and it will compete against Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini.
Let’s take a look at what to expect from the future model.
2022 Alfa Romeo 8C Exterior
The return of the 8C is a fantastic thing for the Italian automaker. Considering that it already has a performance sedan called Giulia and the performance SUV, Stelvio, the one thing missing is the supercar.
Since Alfa Romeo plans to launch the 8C after 2020, we know very little about it. The only thing we have based on which we can make our predictions is the teaser image Alfa has released. According to the carmaker, the new supercar will be a mid-engined vehicle, which clearly explains why the roof is sloped down.
The new 8C will be a two-seater, which means that there will be decent room for cargo. We assume that the new model will not look like its predecessor and a large amount of the design cues will be taken from the Giulia and Stelvio. A triangular grille is expected to remain, but the overall look of the supercar will be aggressive.
Interior
Don’t expect the cabin of the 2022 Alfa Romeo 8C to b something special. This is a supercar, meaning that there will be enough room for two people who will not be too comfortable inside. What we know for sure is that standard leather and Alcantara seats will be used.
On the other hand, carbon fiber will most likely be featured as well, especially since a bunch of carmakers already use this material.
As for the technology, a digital display unit will be installed. The Giulia has an 8.8-inch screen, which might be taken over and modified, but expect the display of approximately that size. Even though it is highly unlikely, Alfa Romeo might look at the 8C Competizione’s interior design, build upon that and modernize it, of course.
Engine
The design is what is questionable, but under the hood, the things are pretty clear. Alfa Romeo was specific about the details here. The 2022 Alfa Romeo 8C will pack a twin-turbo engine and an electric motor on the front axle. This hybrid supercar will deliver more than 700 horsepower and it is going to accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in less than three seconds.
And this is what it is important about this vehicle – over 700 horsepower. With this amount of horses, the Alfa will have no problems competing with the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador and McLaren 720S. Just to see Alfa Romeo among this name is a success for the Italian carmaker. We honestly never expected it to go head to head to the world’s most famous supercar companies, but here we are. Of course, now we are waiting for Alfa Romeo to assemble and launch this car.
2022 Alfa Romeo 8C Price
We are still going to wait a few more years for the 2022 Alfa Romeo 8C to make a debut. This means that the pricing at this point is unknown and we can only speculate. The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was sold in the United States for $300,000 and bear in mind that this was ten years ago. Certainly, the new 8C is going to be much more expensive. Don’t expect this vehicle to be cheap.
